Biography

Sport has always played a prominent part in my childhood. Like many, football was seen as the main social past time and I would regularly fulfil my Sunday mornings playing for the local village or even catching the odd Saturday afternoon game down at Ipswich Town. However, with many family members heavily involved in the motor racing scene it seemed inevitable that my focus would shift towards the captivating sounds of two stroke engines and soon enough I started participating in local motocross events.

After many years racing in regional championships the demands of the sport became too much. I decided to try pastures new and broaden my knowledge of other sports whilst still following the professional motocross scene. The decision also allowed me to gain a clearer insight into possible career opportunities and after studying Media and English at college I took it upon myself to pursue a degree in sports journalism at Huddersfield University.

Whilst at University I gained invalauble experience and advise from respectable journalists such as Chris Irvine, Rugby League correspondent for The Times, and Dave Woods, Rugby League reporter for the BBC. It also allowed me to broaden my knowledge on sports that I previously disregarded, such as cycling and rugby league.

Throughout my time in Huddersfield I wrote for a number of different publications such as the Suburb magazine and the University paper as well as a number of sporting websites. I have also had a unique insight into the magazine industry after spending a week at ProCycling magazine as part of my final year Professional Case Study.
